RES has been given planning permission for Hill of Towie II, a 16 turbine extension to the operational Hill of Towie Wind Farm near Drummuir, Moray. RES expect that the extension will create more than £4.4 million of inward investment for the local economy during its construction and first year of operation.

Simon Peltenburg, Head of Projects - Scotland said; “We are delighted with the decision to approve the extension to Hill of Towie Wind Farm. This extension has been carefully designed to complement the existing wind farm and will utilise a lot of the existing infrastructure during its construction, thus minimising the potential for any local disruption.”

“Onshore wind is now the cheapest form of any new generation bar none and Hill of Towie II will therefore play an important part in helping to make the important transition to a low cost, low carbon future for Scotland. This positive decision is not only good news for the environment but also for bill payers.”
