RES SUBMITS PLANS FOR AN EXTENSION TO HILL OF TOWIE WIND FARM

October 2013

RES has submitted a Section 36 application to the Scottish Government's Energy Consents and Deployment Unit for an extension to Hill of Towie Wind Farm.  The application seeks permission for 16 turbines to join the 21-turbine Hill of Towie Wind Farm operated by RES near Drummuir in Moray.

The submission follows an extensive period of consultation led by RES, which included a series of public exhibitions which visited Dufftown, Drummuir and Keith in early September.

Ruth Highgate, RES Project Manager, said: "We would like to thank all of those who came along to the public exhibitions and took the time to provide us with comments on our proposal for the extension.  We have sensitively designed the project to ensure it fits with the current wind farm at Hill of Towie, which has proved to be a great success.  The existing wind farm has provided significant benefits to the local area and we are confident that the extension will continue RES' commitment to ensure local communities benefit from our developments."

RES invites you to discuss its extension proposal for Hill of Towie Wind Farm

RES is proposing an extension to the Hill of Towie Wind Farm. The existing 21-turbines were developed, constructed and are operated by RES. We submitted a scoping request earlier this year to the Scottish Government for an additional 21 turbines on land to the south west of the existing wind farm. Our designs evolved as a result of the site studies we have undertaken and feedback received. Since submitting the scoping request we have reduced the proposed number of turbines from 21 to 16.

We would welcome the opportunity to share our proposals for the extension to Hill of Towie Wind Farm with as many people as possible, so we will be holding three public exhibitions at the following locations and times:

  • Tuesday 3 September 2013 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm. Venue - Drummuir Hall, Drummuir, AB55 5JE

  • Wednesday 4 September 2013 from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Venue - The Royal Hotel, Church Rd, Keith, AB55 5BR

  • Wednesday 4 September 2013 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Venue - Mortlach Memorial Hall, Dufftown, AB55 5AJ

We hope you will be able to come and discuss the proposals with us at any of the three exhibitions, irrespective of where you live, as the information displayed on all days will be identical.

Members of the RES project team will be on hand to answer any questions you might have and there will also be the opportunity to register your views about the wind farm, which in turn could inform our proposals. RES intends to submit a planning application for Hill of Towie II Wind Farm to the Energy Consents Unit at the Scottish Government later this year.
